Information for Parents

Welcome to Our Library Blog!

Some of you may be wondering what a blog is. A blog is like an online journal. A blog is a website where an administrator (that would be me) can add posts which are like online journal entries. Newest posts are displayed first.

Blog visitors read the posts and are able to comment on them and leave questions. The blog administrator then reviews and responds to the comments made. This creates an online conversation. In order to leave a quality comment, review the post “Ready, Get Set, Comment!” Parents who leave comments are asked to use only their first names so as to not identify their child.

Blogs allow students to practice skills needed to become responsible digital citizens. Blogging develops their digital literacy and internet safety skills.

Blogging also allows students to connect globally.

If you would like to view a video about what a blog is and how it came to be, search for the Common Craft video “Blogs in Plain English”. It is available on You Tube. It cannot be embedded on this blog as I do not have a web license to do so.
